Welcome to the Rumour mill, VideoGamer.com's run-down of the big rumours currently doing the rounds in the video game industry. Every week we'll hunt down the juiciest stories and give our opinion on how legit they are. So, whether you want the ridiculous or the plausible, read on.

Duke Nukem 3D coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade

duke nukem -

The Rumour: Cult classic FPS Duke Nukem 3D will be released on Xbox LIVE Arcade later this year, complete with four-player co-op and eight-player online support.

Verdict: This rumour has been around since the middle of last year, when 3D Realms' George Broussard talked about the studio's desire to bring the game to Xbox LIVE Arcade. With fresh rumours over the release of the game and the way the classic game could be used to boost the profile of the frequently delayed Duke Nukem Forever, it makes a lot of sense.

Super Smash Bros. N64 to Virtual Console in March

The Rumour: It must be the week of old game/new game tie-ins. With the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl set for March in the US (no confirmed date for Europe), Nintendo is to release classic N64 brawler Super Smash Bros. onto the Wii's Virtual Console at around the same time.

Verdict: It's 100% possible. Nintendo can release Virtual Console titles whenever it wishes, but why not build up hype for the game pre-launch by releasing the N64 fighter a month or so before the Wii game hits stores? Wii owners will get their retro brawling fix at some point, and we think it'll be before we get our hands on the new game.

RockBand stage kit coming this year

The Rumour: Not content with having the most complete music game on the market, EA and MTV Games plan to release a "Interactive Light and Stage Show" kit later in 2008.

Verdict: An eagle-eyed reader of Destructoid contacted the blog when the supposed stage kit appeared on US retailer Gamestop's website. Although the kit's image has been removed from the site, the listing still exists. Although we're yet to get RockBand in Europe, this add-on kit is looking highly likely.

BioShock coming to the PS3... again

The Rumour: The official 2K Boston website has a listing for a Tools programmer and senior console programmer. Nothing that interesting there, but they are after PS3 experience. Which in the world of the internet is confirmation that BioShock is heading to PS3.

Verdict: This rumour just won't die and it's constantly fuelled by bits of info that suggest it's a reality. In truth, 2K Games has never said anything on the game coming to the PS3 and all the evidence that supposedly points towards the PS3 game could just as easily be evidence of the sequel coming to Sony's console. A game in the BioShock series will one day come to the PS3, but we don't think it'll be the original.
