Forum Rules

Primary Rules

• No Trolling - Do not post comments in threads with the sole purpose to cause an argument. You are free to express your opinion on a matter, but this is not the place to abuse anyone who doesn't have the same opinion as you. Repeat trolling will result in a ban.
• No Abusive Posts - Be nice to each other. Anyone who is found to be abusive to another member will be banned at the Moderators' discretion.
• No Obscenity - This is a family friendly forum - do not post any obscene messages or pictures, including pornography. Doing so may result in an instant ban.
• No Commercial Posts without prior authorisation.
• No Impersonation of Other Users.
• No All Caps - This is seen as rude. Please don't do it.
• No Excessive Bumping - If people want to reply to your thread they will do. Please don't post repeatedly in your own thread to bump it. You may make a bumping post if 24 hours has past and your topic has received no reply.
• No Large Pictures in Signatures - A few words are fine, or an image no greater than 550x75 pixels in size.
• No Off-topic Links to Personal Websites without prior authorisation.

Rules of Conduct

• Treat Fellow Posters with Respect and Courtesy - Always.
• No Piracy - No discussion of how to illegally obtain copyrighted material or links to websites promoting subversion of copyright.
• No Posting of Personal Contact Information - For your safety, no public posting of any personal contact information is permitted.
• No Flaming or posting of material intended to start a flame war.
• Spoilers Must be Clearly Indicated on thread titles - if you have to post a spoiler, do it within the post making use of the spoiler tags, e.g.
Level 3 Solution
Non-Compliance to Rules

A three strike system is in effect for any user failing to fully comply with the rules:

First Offence: A warning.
Second Offence: Individual forum or forum-wise suspension.
Third Offence: A permanent site-wide ban.

In servere cases the offender may be banned before making 3 offences.

If you have a problem with any particular user(s), send a PM to one of the moderators and they will look into the problem. Please do not contact moderators or staff about petty squabbles.

Classified Forum Rules

All posts made within the Classified Forum must adhere to the following rules.

1. Primary Classified Forum Rules

• Commercial adverts offering sale of stock items is not permitted. All items advertised must be personal property of the seller.
• 'Pro Traders' are not permitted to sell on the VideoGamer.com Forums. 'Pro Traders' are classed as anybody who intentionally buys one or more items to sell on at a profit, or anybody who lists three or more of the same item in the same thread, or in subsequent threads.
• No thread spoiling. If you have no intention of making a purchase, stay off the thread. If you are interested in the item for sale, you may link to a website offering a lower price.

2. Prohibited Items

Use your common sense in deciding if it is suitable to sell your item(s) on the VideoGamer.com Classifieds Forum. The following items are prohibited:
• Pirated or stolen items
• Chipped consoles or anything that promotes piracy including flash linkers.
• Sim cards.
• Mobile phone unlocking services or facilities.
• Tobacco.
• Football tickets.
• Weapons of any description (swords, knifes, guns, etc.)

3. Advertising Items

• Users may only post one "for sale" or "to trade" thread and one "wanted" thread at any time. If you have multiple items to sell, include them within a single post.
• You must provide a price for your item.
• Where possible either include the postage cost in the asking price or give an indication as to how much it will cost.
• Include the condition of the item and if appropriate the packaging.
• If an item is promotional, rather than retail, state this in the description.
• Images must be hosted externally (on your own webspace or on one of the many image hosting services, etc.).
• You are limited to a maximum of one bump every 12 hours
• You must state if you are advertising your items elsewhere. You may not list an item that is available elsewhere at auction (e.g. ebay) nor may you link to an auction.

4. Making a Sale and Haggling

• All deals must remain on the thread - the PM system and/or e-mail may not be used for selling/trading items. Once a deal is done you may privately communicate with each other to obtain the required details.
• The first person to offer the asking price for an item secures the sale - no further offers can be made after this, even if higher than the asking price.
• The only exception to the above rule is if the potential buyer has a negative rating or if the seller has had a bad experience with this particular buyer, in which case the seller may use their discretion.
• If an asking price is lowered, earlier offers are invalidated.
• If you wish to modify an earlier offer that has not been acknowledged, either to increase or reduce it, post again. Editing an offer you have made in an earlier post will result in that offer being voided.

5. Completing a Sale

• Make sure you check the Traders Blacklist before accepting an offer to your sale.
• It is advisable to request digital photographs of the item to help confirm its existance and condition before a purchase.
• The seller is responsible for ensuring the buyer receives their item in the condition agreed. The seller should consider appropriate tracking and insurance options when sending items - should an item be lost or damaged with insufficient insurance, the seller is liable.
• If you are transferring funds electronically (e.g. bank transfer) make sure you obtain proof of payment.
• Once the sale is completed, please leave feedback for that user by clicking the 'Trader Rating' link below their name. Make sure you check out the Feedback Guidance sticky before using this feature.
