Would like to deliver the PC and 360 superhero MMO to as many platforms as possible.
Cryptic Studios is "definitely interested" in releasing a PS3 version of upcoming PC and Xbox 360 superhero MMO Champions Online, the developer said.
Speaking during a presentation to press at Leipzig Games Conference last month, Cryptic designer Aaron Safronoff said that the studio "would like to deliver the game to as many platforms" as possible.
Currently, Champions Online, based on the Champions table top IP, is slated for release for PC and Xbox 360 only in spring 2009.
When asked why there is no PS3 version planned, Safronoff replied: "The PS3 version is something we're definitely interested in. But as far as that launch time it will just be those two. As far as any specific reason why we haven't done it yet, I actually don't know that answer. But as far as time is concerned, we were already built in. We wanted to do the 360 and PC right away. Basically that was the quickest transition for us to get a game on the market."
He added: "We are certainly looking into it, absolutely. We would like to deliver the game to as many platforms as we possibly could."
Looks like there may be hope for Champions Online for PS3-owning superhero fans. While you're waiting for news, while not check out our Champions Online preview fresh from Games Convention?

This is very very exciting news for us Champions/CoH-V fans with ps3s. I was terribly disappointed that there was no announced ps3 version, but this gives me a lot of hope. The Cryptic team has loads of experience with the Super Hero MMO. Plus, we've been waiting for a champions ip video game for around 15 years now....DC Universe might be awesome, but now we'll (hopefully) have another option in case it isn't!
