xbox 3601 - Fall update brings downloadable Xbox...

OXM has slipped information to CVG, revealing that the Fall Xbox 360 dashboard update will go live on December 4. The new update will bring with it the ability to download original Xbox titles direct to your console.

Once the dashboard update goes live Xbox 360 gamers will be able to purchase original Xbox titles and download them to their console. The initial line-up is said to include Halo, Fable, Fahrenheit, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3. More titles are to be added over time, with the plan to bring as much as possible of the Xbox catalogue to Marketplace.

Each game is to cost around 1200 Microsoft Points, which isn't too bad considering you won't have to leave your home. There's no word yet on whether the games will be straight ports or upgrades like the recent Tekken 5 DR for PlayStation 3 (Full 1080p visuals and online play).

Although not confirmed for release on December 4, downloadable movies are also close to launching for UK Xbox 360 users. Just like North American Xbox 360 users have been able to do for a while now, movies available in 720p can be downloaded to watch just like a rental service. You'll have 14 days to watch the film, but once the film is started only 24 hours until it's made inaccessible.

Expect more information over the coming weeks.
