Wii and Nintendo DS continue to outsell rivals while PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 struggle.

The latest figures released by Media Create for Japanese hardware sales for the week ending April 8 show the Nintendo DS and Wii have further strengthened their lead in the Japanese video game market.
Nintendo DS sales rose by 28% up to 110,935 even with continued stock shortages of Japan's most popular handheld. Wii sales were also up, although only ever so slightly, to 52,583. To date Wii sales in Japan stand at approximately 2 million.
Despite losing out to its rival, the PSP is still performing well in Japan, with sales of 31,503 over the course of the week. This is more than double that of the PlayStation 3 which only managed 14,520 units. However, even the PS3 can been seen as successful when compared to the Xbox 360's meagre 2963 units.
PS3 sales in Japan have now reached approximately 826,000 units, more than double that of the Xbox 360's 346,500 units, but still some way behind the Wii.
