A major UK games retailer has already sold its initial allocation of PSPs.
It appears that the PSP may be pretty scarce when it goes on sale in the UK. Major videogame retailer GAME has announced that they are no longer taking pre-orders for launch-day PSPs. People who pre-ordered prior to 4pm on August 5th 2005 are the only customers guaranteed to receive a console for launch. GAME expect later orders to be fulfilled at some point later in September.
Whether or not this situation is the same at all retailers isn't clear. The £179 price was thought to be rather expensive, especially as importing the console proved to be cheaper. However, with Sony clamping down on retailers selling imports, it seems that people are more than willing to pay the money for the handheld.
Look for an onslaught of PSP coverage soon.
