DFC predicts Sony will loose grip on console market.
The market research company DFC Intelligence has released a report claiming the PlayStation 3 will struggle to maintain Sony's stranglehold on the videogame console market. They are predicting that the PlayStation 3 will only have a 50% share at best with its rivals, the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution, gaining ground.
The PlayStation 2 currently has a 70% share with the Xbox and GameCube taking about 15% each. DFC claim that the Xbox 360 will at best gain a 40% share with the Revolution slightly behind at 35%. Note that these are best case figures for each platform. These predications could well have been influenced by recent concerns over cost of development and long development times for the PlayStation 3.
