Shane Kim says Halo as we know it today is just "another milestone to be exceeded in the future".
The Halo franchise is held up as Microsoft Game Studios' crown jewel, but this hasn't stopped Shane Kim, the newly appointed corporate vp of strategy and business development for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, from setting his sights on topping the blockbuster franchise.
Asked by Next-gen what the chances were of Microsoft Game Studios ever creating a franchise as big or bigger than Halo, Kim replied: "Really good. And I'll tell you why. We've got the talent, we've got people who are always on the lookout for new ideas and talent, and most importantly we have the commitment and the will to create those hits."
He continued: "Those are not easy tasks. There would've been lots of people in the past that would've not stuck with various projects that have turned out to be very successful for us.
"In no way would I say that Halo, or what we know of Halo today, is the peak of what's possible. Far from it. It's another benchmark, another milestone to exceed in the future."
Can Microsoft really better the Halo franchise? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

bloody oath, they linked the halo trilogy soooo badly, i was expecting at least 5 more levels in each one and the flood levels are soo bad, no one wants to fight inside small tunnels for an entire level they could have at least done something creative in those like pussle solving some more open battle conflict maybe people captured like in the first halo caiptin keys style but a new slant of course.
and what happened to the space battle at the start of halo 3?!!!
